Well…

THAT SUCKED!

first off sorry if this hurts anyones feelings, so if you had a good practice tonight you may way to stop reading.

why did practice suck? warm up…it all comes down to starting the practice off write.  tonights warm up lasted 180 something laps and out of the 16 people who skated all but maybe 4 did not finish or even get past 30 laps. i ended up skating maybe 20 laps total of over 180…and those laps were maybe 4 at a time then stop and start etc. instead of warming up…i got to watch 4 people warm up. yay! this put me as well as others in a bad mood and it was only warm up… except i was not even close to warm.

there is a point to the drill and its important… aaron is giving us a lot of great feedback that is useful and easy to understand. the slower skaters have to move up from the back to the front and skate the track patterns, the problem comes when these skaters come to the front so fast that they break up the pack and the slower skater behind them that has just done their laps has to sprint to keep up. at some points tonight i saw skaters not even be able to get to the front of the pack because the skater before picked up the speed too much.i think this drill would work better with only one change, instead of skating up to the front on the outside of the pack.. we do dropbacks. that way there is a greater chance of finishing, it also makes it easier to jump back into the pack if you do get dropped. i felt tonight that if i were to come back in i would just get in the way.. i would have to jump into the front of the pack and who really wants me a slow skater who cant hang in the warm up to get infront of them and slow them down!? not many.

warm ups like these just make me feel like shit and i still have the whole practice to skate feeling like shit. other than the warm up skating was fine…it would have been fun if i was warm and in a better mood. i was even going to not skate the relay, which for me is the best part of any practice because i had just had enough, like i was wasting my time and everyone elses.

strangly..i was just starting to really really like indoors, i’m excited to go to practices. monday was amazing and tonight i couldn’t wait to get on the floor,  funny how things work out. now i find myself saying its a good thing i have to go to ST this sunday and not indoors.

………………again sorry but i’m just being honest about how i felt.
